Dear Parents/Caregivers

Welcome to the 2024 International Competitions and Assessments for Schools (ICAS) offered to Year 3 to 8 students. For the last 30 years ICAS has taken place each year in schools throughout Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei, the Pacific region and South Africa. Your child is invited to participate in 2024.

We encourage you to consider entering your child into ICAS this year.  

All students receive a certificate and an individual student report indicating which questions they answered correctly and their score compared with the rest of the students tested. The tests are excellent preparation for national tests and the student report is useful for highlighting your child’s strengths and weaknesses. The UNSW certificate and individual student report are also suitable for your child to include in a portfolio.

High-quality UNSW certificates are awarded for each year level as follows:

• High Distinction to the top 1% of entrants

• Distinction to the next 10% of entrants
• Credit to the next 25% of entrants
• Participation to all other participating students.

How to participate in ICAS 

1. Go to Parent Portal to purchase tests here: (shop.icasassessments.com/pages/pps) 

2. Enter our school’s access code –  DXD032

3. Enter your child’s details, select the tests you would like to purchase, then proceed to payment. 

Please note that the ICAS tests shown for selection are at the school’s discretion and entries close Monday July 29th 2024.

After payment is made via the Parent Payment System, you will receive an order confirmation email, please keep this for your records. 

The entry fee per student is (there has been a slight increase this year) and dates are as follows. These dates are a guide for each school and we will set the specific date closer to the time.

• Science – August 19th - 23rd (NZD $21.50)
• Digital Technologies – August 5th - 9th (NZD $21.50)
• Writing – August 5th - 9th (NZD $27.75) (Available to only Years 5 to 8)
• English – August 12th - 16th (NZD $21.50)
• Mathematics – August 26th - 30th (NZD $21.50)
• Spelling – August 19th - 23rd (NZD $21.50)
• All of the above (NZD $135.25)

Privacy Collection Statement 

The following information is a  privacy notification about how your child’s data is kept private and secure. 

ICAS Assessment is owned by Janison Solutions Pty Ltd

To deliver assessment products, Janison will require your child’s School to obtain your consent to provide Janison with certain personal information of students. Janison will collect, store, use, disclose and otherwise deal with such personal information in accordance with its privacy policy (below). We are aware of our responsibility to protect personal information related to children and students from being disclosed when we deliver an ICAS Assessments product. Unless you, as the child’s legal guardian consents, we will not:

· collect any personal information or data of children other than the information we need for the successful completion of an assessment, test, or exam.

· transfer any personal information we obtain from a child in the delivery of assessments and tests to any jurisdiction outside of Australia.

· share any personal information relating to children with any third parties (except for those third parties necessary for us to carry out our Services or provide our Products e.g., medal engraving).

· use any personal information or data relating to children for marketing purposes.

We may retain personal information and data relevant to a child for their future purposes or for research purposes by Janison for the duration of the school life cycle of the child. However, if you or your child at any time wish to have their personal information or data removed from our systems, they or you may opt out by simply contacting our Privacy Officer at privacy@janison.com or by contacting icasassessments@janison.com.
