Tīrama

Lily Manson —

What a fantastic start to Term 2 it has been! Tīrama 1-4 have been extremely excited to explore our new learning spaces.

There has been a lot of change for many of our junior students this past week. They have changed eating areas, play areas and moved into a fully collaborative environment. It has been so pleasing to see how well they have adapted to these changes and have continued to demonstrate our school values while doing so! The tamariki adore the big open space, bright lighting and being back on their junior playground.

The name of our new space is Tīrama. Tīrama means to shine and to glimmer. Our tamariki have enjoyed learning about our new name by connecting it to the waiata 'Tīrama tīrama ngā whetū' (Twinkle twinkle little star). Our other Year 1 & 2 space is named Pīata. This means to be shiny and glossy. It has been lovely to see all of our Year 1 & 2 children eating and playing together out the front of Merrin during breaking times. Tīrama looks forward to hosting Pīata for Discovery next week!
