Engineering Competitions for Year 5 & 6

This week the year 5 & 6 students participated in the 'EPro8 Classroom Challenge'.  We have been doing English by using mathematics, mathematics looked more like art, and PE became a science lesson.  

Each group was presented with the challenge of constructing a crane.  The briefing was as follows...

'You work at a construction site building skyscraper.  You need to construct a crane that can lift objects from the ground, rotate, and lower them to another location.  The crane must be self-supporting (you must be able to stand back and not touch the crane).'
