Treasures of the Shore or Saving the Sand Dunes - those are the topics ESOL students are investigating.

David Zehms —

The ESOL students have been learning about the seashore for the last several weeks. Years 1-3 children have been focusing on the sandy seashore and its treasures in their reading, writing, listening and speaking.

The 4-8 students have focused on Saving the Sand Dunes. They have been studying about what the sand dunes do, how they protect the land and why that is important to the environment and the plants, animals and humans that inhabit this habitat. In addition to this, they have been focusing on two groups of people, the San people of the Kalahari Desert and the Mongol people of the Gobi desert.

On Monday, 11 April, the ESOL classes will be traveling to Spencer Park. Our afternoon will be working in groups with specialist environmental educators. The morning will be spent making sandcastles and gathering treasures from the beach. Keep your fingers crossed that we have good weather!
