Happy Campers!
Team 5/6 had such a fantastic time at Blue Skies Camp!
We were so proud of the children stepping out of their comfort zones at camp last week. Fun was had by all, and it was great to see the children showing our Merrin School values throughout.
This week we have been reflecting back on our favourite parts of the camp...
'My favourite part of camp was going to the river and going kayaking because I have kayaked before and it was a better experience than when I went kayaking with my family.' - Vesper
'My favourite activity on camp was kayaking. I liked it because you can go really fast and you could ride with your friends.' - Ransilu
'My favourite bit was when we got to go rock climbing. I liked rock climbing because you got to climb as high as you wanted.' - Peyton
'My favourite part of camp was when we went kayaking because under one of the bridges were a bunch of pigeons!' - Jessica
'My favourite part of camp was abseiling/rock climbing. It was fun climbing up and knowing if you fall someones holding on to you. I surprisingly made it to the top of one! I would recommend doing it.' - Mila
'My favourite part of camp was going to the river because we got to do stand up paddle boarding, kayaking, and raft building. The water was cold but I got used to it and I fell in a lot of times. We couldn’t stand on the ground because there was a lot of duck poo in the river. I didn’t know there were eels until after I swam. I did a lot of swimming.' - Ruby
'The river was a mess of kayaks, paddle boards and rafts. Kayaks swerved sharply to avoid out-of-control paddle-boarders. I was in a kayak at the time dodging branches as well as trying to stay onboard. Some people claimed to have seen an eel- at first I didn't believe them but as soon as I went on a paddle board, my thoughts about eels in the river began to change. Many paddle-boarders had fallen into the river; thank goodness ours wasn't one of them. My fellow paddle boarder hopped on to another board. I thought they had left me for good-they actually wanted to stay onboard. Following paddle boarding there was raft building. We made a good raft-for 1-3 people. There were five people coming onboard. We rounded it down to four. The one that was left out was lucky. Someone jumped out when we were mid-river. The raft tipped over and we all fell out. The raft re-righted itself and continued down the river, accompanied by an oar. That was the end of the day at the river. I couldn’t wait to get back to camp and change into warmer clothes.' - Alisdair
