PERCEPTUAL MOTOR PROGRAMME (PMP)

Helen Abrahams —

PMP is a perceptual motor programme that aims to teach children perceptions and understanding of themselves and their world, through movement and motor experiences. The programme supports the development of movement and motor skills in the areas of eye/hand, eye/foot coordination, locomotion, balance and fitness (including stamina, flexibility, and strength). It helps children to refine gross motor skills to prepare the brain for classroom learning. We are intending to start this programme at the beginning of Term 2. This programme requires 3 adult helpers (parents, grandparents, aunties/uncles) for each session for 9 weeks. If you are able to help with this programme, you will be supervising an activity with 4-5 children. This will mean you will be working on one of the days for a session from 8.50-10.40am.

A short training session will be offered after school, the date is still to be confirmed.

If you are interested in helping, please speak to your child's teacher.
