Merrin Memories - George

My Merrin Memories

I started at Merrin in year six. When I first came here I felt that everything was new to me, like the language, people and buildings. I was really excited about my future school life, and now, my school life is good, As I expected. I made a lot of friends, improved my English a lot, and all the lessons were amazing. All the teachers were also super kind to me.

I still remember the last day of year seven. I was crying because my year eight friends were leaving, but time went really fast, I guess I will see them next year!

My highlight moment is probably this year in assembly, five minutes of fame, Miss Green filmed a video of me playing piano. And I guess I’ll have more highlights next year at high school?!

My Heroes

Talking about the heroes in my life, it must be my friends, families and teachers who gave me lots of help with my studies and support. They teach me when I don’t know, they help and play with me when I’m bored, they really give me lots of support on everything I’m confused about, so I’m really thankful to them, they are my heroes.

My Jams

I really love classical piano pieces because when I listen to them, I feel really calm and relaxed. Probably I played too much piano, or I just have the talent. Talking about my favourite piano song, I can’t decide because there were way too many good and famous pieces, so I can’t pick any of them.

My Ultimate Future Self

In five years I’ll have graduated from highschool and started my university career. I will probably study things about palaeontology or music.

Ten years from now I’m 23, I graduated from my university and I might have my own job as a palaeontologist depending on what I studied.

Fifteen years later I’m 28, I have a master PHD in palaeontology, I probably will work in geology and biology in university. I want to stay in New Zealand and continue my palaeontology career.

My Favourite Quote

Talking about my favourite quote, it’s definitely

“The world has used me so unkindly, I fear it has made me suspicious of everyone.”

-Mary Anning, the legendary palaeontologist that discovered many types of Sea Reptiles, Ammonites, Ichthyosaurus and Plesiosaurus, she said that because she was bullied by people because she’s a female palaeontologist.

My Wrap Up...

I want people to remember me because that proves I existed before. After I leave Merrin School, I hope people can still remember me, the person who is funny and also a wonderful piano player.

I hope when I am walking on the street, a year eight points at me and says: “I know you, you are the person from last year!!” That actually makes me feel a bit popular and famous.

Almost everybody says that school is boring, even nightmares to them, but I don’t really agree with that. School is actually a perfect place for studying, playing and making friends, especially to the year eight’s. When they go to high school, they’ll miss their primary school. They’ll have regrets, regrets that they didn’t cherish the time at primary schools, so I advise all of the year eight students to cherish our last time in the school, and once we get older, we’ll have more cherish about our times in our primary school.
