2018 Open Night for Year 6 Students and Families

Tuakana Whetū Y 7 & 8 —

Our Tuakana Whetū Team (Year 7 & 8) invite Year 6 students and families to their open night to be held on 14th of August (7 - 8.00 p.m.) in Room 14. This is a showcase of the learning and opportunities available at Merrin for this whānau group.

Tuakana Whetū students enjoy an open plan environment, with a higher level of self responsibility for their learning than years 1 - 6.

At Merrin we are proud of our students achievements, the leadership they exhibit and their sense of Manaakitanga and Whanaungatanga for our younger pupils.

Our Tuakana Whetū teachers are in close contact with the Mahuta (Y 5 & 6) team so there is a smooth transition for students from Y6 into this more senior area.

Preparing our students for high school where they are expected to study, learn, gather information and be self responsible is one of the priorities behind our programme.

We pride ourselves on extending our tamariki (children) to be the best they can be inside and outside the classroom.
