Year 1 - 4 Te Reo Māori Club
Reka ngā kepapa huarākau! Fruit kebabs are delicious!
Over the past couple of ngā wiki our Te Reo Māori club has been learning the kupu (words) needed to make kepapa huarākau (fruit kebabs). The tamariki have been practising saying the kupu for the different ingredients. They have learnt that āporo is apple, panana is banana, ārani is orange and that kōpungapunga is marshmallow!
Through games and stories some of our tamariki have learnt to use these kupu within a simple sentence. For example:
He aha tēnei? What is this?
He panana tēnā. That is a banana.
Homai he kōpungapunga māku. Give me a marshmallow (please).
The tamariki were VERY excited to make the kepapa huarākau this wiki. It was fantastic to hear all of the reo Māori being used by the tamariki. Mā te whakaharatau e tika ai! Practise makes perfect!
Te Reo Māori club will continue every Tuesday lunch time next term. If your tamaiti (child) would like to join please encourage them to come along!
Mā te huruhuru ka rere te manu!
