Merrin School Ngā Whetū Kohara

by Angelique van der Velden

It's music, music, music!

Angelique van der Velden - August 21, 2019

Music goes live with Strum, Strike and Blow (SSB). Please put Thursday 29th August in the calendar for this amazing workshop and concert

Ukulele students will spend the day at Horncastle Arena in a  workshop and then highlight their new skills in one amazing Concert (7 - 8.15pm). Very family friendly and only $5pp at the door. SSB will truly be a treat.

AND this year the Merrin School Senior Choir will be performing at the Christchurch Schools Music Festival (CSMF), on Thursday 7th November.

It will be a special occasion as the Festival is finally returning to the Christchurch Town Hall for the first time since the earthquakes many years back.

The theme is ‘You’re the Voice’ and it is a celebration of 80 years of the Music Festival.

I won’t give too much away but there are some real show stoppers with favourite songs including Chattanooga Choo Chooand Welcome Home.

Here are some crucial dates.

September 4th

Rehearsal for students. Shirley Boys High School. 12.15 to 2.15pm. The choir will leave Merrin by bus at 11.30am and will return by 3pm.

November 7th

Rehearsal for students at the Town Hall. Time to be confirmed

November 7th

Our Merrin School performance night. There are 3 nights of performances. Merrin only performs on the Thursday evening 7th Nov.

We have only been allocated 20 places so are taking a very select choir to the CSMF.

It has been strongly advised to ‘get in early’ to buy tickets if you would like to see this musical celebration of song. There are only a limited number of seats available (considerably less that at the Horncastle Arena). You will not be able to purchase on the night.

Tickets are now available via Ticketek. ChCh Schools Music Festival – You’re the Voice
