Creating Lifelong Learners
Curriculum Delivery
Self Regulated Learning
The change to Self-Regulated Learning develops our pupils’ skills of time-management, goal-setting and reflection.
Second Languages
Offering the opportunity to study a range second language of Chinese, Japanese and French is a deliberate focus on the reflection of the importance of preparing our children for the future.
Metacognition
The art of thinking about our thinking and as such requires deliberate teaching. We use a range of thinking frameworks to do this. This stimulates the development of reflective and cognitive behaviour.
Accelerated Learning in Literacy
We embrace ALL through our Science programme, it is hands-on and practical while developing a broad range of writing skills. Embedding key concepts through Science Fair investigations and a sustained focus requires time. We are passionate about inspiring young scientists.
Technology
We engage outside expertise (Kirkwood) to offer a specialised technology programme where a varied, practical and qualitative programme is delivered.
Inquiry
This is the learning area where we get excited about the big ideas we investigate. Flight, The Brain, Life Beyond the Classroom, Who am I? Digital Citizenship are some of the open ended topics that have enthused and stimulated our learners over previous years.
Te Kotiritiri
A practical programme where our school values are put into action. We are developing citizens of the future who will think locally, nationally and globally. Our Home Learning Programme is practical, challenging and develops the skills required to succeed at high school.
Literacy and Numeracy
Our core learning programmes cater for the divergent needs of our learners with both mixed and accelerated learning groups. Specialised teaching for our gifted and talented writers and mathematicians is matched by support for those who require extra assistance.
