Mahuta at the Mitre 10 Cup Game
As part of the CRFU Adopt a School Programme, 15 of our students participated on game day for our Mitre 10 Canterbury team vs Counties Manukau!
On Wednesday, 13 September, students from Mahuta were selected to represent Merrin at the Mitre 10 Cup Canterbury vs Counties Manukau game.
Before the main game started we played a Rapid Rugby game against St Patricks. It was a great game played with a lot of fun! After the game, we were given the opportunity to form a guard of honour for both teams to run through. When we were clapping the player's hands. Once the players were on the field we went up in the stands and watched the first half of the game before competing in a rugby passing relay at half-time. We had to line up and pass the ball down the line from one end of the field to the other. Once we got to the other end we ran back to do it again. The first team to go there and back twice was the winner and they got a $500 voucher worth of sports gear. We won! After that, we went back and watched the rest of the game. During the game, there was a challenge for everyone that if a player kicked the ball into the crowd and you caught it you would win a prize. Suddenly, Blake caught the ball and he won a voucher to Burger King! It was such a great experience for us all and we would like to thank our parents for taking us to the game and the Canterbury Rugby Union for the wonderful opportunity. Thank you to Maika, our manager on the day and Matua for organising the opportunity.
