On the 4th of October, there was a prize giving ceremony for people who did well in the Australian Mathematics Competition (AMC). 

It was held at St Margaret’s College in Merivale. Merrin School did very well, and three of our students were invited - Ethan Ng, James Li and Woojin Song.

The students arrived to the school at about 2pm, and then the prize giving ceremony started soon after. During the prize giving ceremony, there were many students who got prizes, from all around New Zealand - some students even came all the way from Auckland to attend the event. Ethan received a Prize certificate, while James and WooJin received Distinction and Best in School awards.

After the ceremony, there were complimentary snacks and drinks. Also, there was a maths display where students and teachers could look at the advertisements for new math products, and also to browse math books. There were even awesome graphical calculators, which could display images, graphs and games on a colored display*.

The ceremony was new experience for a few people and very interesting. We all had a good day.
