New Learning Support Leader Appointed at Merrin School

Lesley Black —

It is a pleasure to announce that Clare Broadhurst has accepted the position of Learning Support Leader at Merrin as of Term 4. Clare will be working with the children (and their families) who have learning and behavioural needs.

Clare has been working at the Ministry of Education as a Special Education Adviser mainly in the High Behaviour Needs area. Another part of her work with the MOE has been as Lead Professional for the new Children's Team.

Previous to this role, Clare had the role of Early Years Special Educational Need and Disability Manager in Hertfordshire in the UK. She ran a multi-disciplinary team and provided advice and support to approx. 85 Early Years settings. She has a wealth of experience in working with young children who have complex health, medical and educational needs.

She is certified tutor of Elklan, a Speech and Language Programme and has a wide range of Post Grad papers to her name, combined with a Post Grad Certificate in Social Service Management.

Her honours degree in Psychology produced her research into 'Mainstreaming Autistic students'.

Clare will be a huge asset to the Merrin team. We are so lucky!
