Literacy

Our focus in writing has been on recount text with specific learning outcomes for our sessions to write this text type.

During this week and also for Week 8, teachers have and will be assessing students using Probe to identify learning gaps to inform our teaching and learning programmes. This week the students were reminded during Library time that the Hell's Pizza Challenge is on again. For more information please contact Amanda Simpson  in the library amandasimpson@merrin.school.nz

Oral language continues to develop and evolve within our whanau classes.

Mathematics and Statistics

This week we have continued to develop number knowledge and strategy.  Again, students are being assessed to gain greater knowledge about their number knowledge and number strategy.

We are on the hunt for old magazines, if you have any could you ask your children to bring them in please.

Reminders

- We still have outstanding money for the chocolate sales, if these could be brought back to school this would be greatly appreciated.

- Part of our school uniform is to wear black shoes. Our standards are slipping so could everyone ensure that we are wearing the correct uniform to and from school. We should be bringing trainers to school everyday for fitness, PE and Sport.

- IXL, this programme supports our Maths programme in the classroom. Many of the students are completing tasks, which is fantastic. While we do use it in the classroom to support the learning, students should be completing approximately 20 minutes a night.
