Love your rubbish - Lollipop to landfill
Pūtahi Toru children have followed the journey of our lollipop wrapper from the rubbish bin at home all the way to the Kate Valley landfill in north Canterbury.
The trip started on the 9th and finished on the 11th of June. We learned that the amount of rubbish from Christchurch people could fill a 9 stories high rugby field each month. Some other fascinating facts we learned were, the gas generated by rubbish is used to make electricity, and the world class system we have at Kate Valley landfill stops our land getting contaminated by bad chemicals.
