Learning Maths is Fun
Gamification is finding a way to make maths fun for our tamariki - making maths play rather than work. The children in Pīata enjoy practising their maths skills by playing a variety of board games as part of their numeracy rotation.
With the school holidays fast approaching, board games provide a great opportunity for incidental learning of numbers such as being able to recognise the numbers on dice and counting forwards/backwards. It is also a great opportunity to practise sharing and taking turns whilst having lots of fun. Snakes and Ladders, Battle Ships and Uno are some of the games we enjoy playing at school.
