Our whole school Cross Country is happening this Friday, 31st March at Burnside Park!

You are welcome to come along and support our students. The best place to park for this event is to enter the Burnside West Cricket Club car park as that is where we will be based for the day.

This event will run from 11am to approximately 2.30pm. The children and staff will walk down to Burnside Park just before their race. The races for the time below are only estimates and will depend on the timing of the previous races.

Race Information:

11.15 am - Year 7 Children - 3km

12.15pm - Year 1 Children - 500m

12.30pm – Year 2 Children - 500m

Thank you to those parents who have volunteered to coach a winter sport team this season.

We just need one more parent to help with a netball team. Please email donanashby@merrin.school.nz if you can help with this.

It has made such a difference to the teams we are able to enter, it also gives us an opportunity to run a sports rotation at school for the students who do not wish to enter into a team.

We are super excited for another year of Winter Sports, there will be more information coming out soon, so watch this space.

Last week we had our biggest number of students trial for our Basketball teams this season.

It was so awesome to see how many students are passionate about playing a sport this year! It made picking the teams very tough and unfortunately we could only enter two year 5/6 teams and two year 7/8 teams.

Congratulations to those who were selected to represent Merrin School, we have four very strong teams this year and we are excited to see you all improve throughout the season.

Thank you to Mr. Wilton for organising and running the trials and thank you to those parents who have volunteered to help coach these teams - we couldn't do it without you.

As there was such a high number of students trialing we would like to run a in-school tournament for those students who may have missed out on a team. Keep an eye out on the school notices for more information about this.
