Congratulations to all the Merrin School competitors who took part in the NW Zone Cross Country event at Jellie Park on Wednesday 25th May.

After some great performances at the Merrin School Cross Country the following children were selected to take part in the NW Zone Cross Country:

Year 5 Girls - Naduni, Sophia, Sasha, Zara, Chloe, Erin.
Year 5 Boys - Tanielu, Daniel, AJ, Marcus, Blake, Jay.
Year 6 Girls - Amy, Aaliyah, Ella, Katy, Maddie, Mia.
Year 6 Boys - George, Cameron, Jack, Dion, Byron, Thomas.
Year 7 Girls - Ella, Natalie, Jood, Meshwa, Drew, Sapphire.
Year 7 Boys - Oakley, Ollie, Toby, Noah, Pere, Zayden.
Year 8 Girls - Nazuna, Sara, Jennylyn, Jamie, Maulshree, Joy.
Year 8 Boys - Luke, Noel, Arjun, Riley, JaeYoung , Ben S.

The children all competed very well and many of them beat their own personal goals.

Special congratulations to Oakley, Sara and Tanielu whose outstanding performances at this event have secured them spots to compete at the CPSSA (Centrals) Competition at Halswell Quarry. We wish them all the very best for this upcoming event.

In one of the most heartwarming moments this year, one of our Merrin Stars was seen running with a child from another school and telling her "breathe, that's it nice deep breaths, you can do this...". Another one of our stars was seen running with another child from Merrin School and holding her hand, supporting her to continue after she had become upset during the race.  Win or lose, it is this display of empathy and sportmanship that can make us very proud to be teachers of Merrin School students.
