Term 3 - Week 3
Working hard is important, but there is something that matters even more. Believing in yourself. - Harry Potter
Kelly Sports
On a Friday, Kelly Sports will continue to work with the Year 4 children while the Y5-8 children are doing Winter Sport. Just a reminder for students to please bring their sports uniform and sports shoes on a Friday.
Our Learning
Reading - Continuing with our focus on comprehension across a range of texts. Keep reading at home with your child and ask them questions about the story.
Writing - ALL Project - We are beginning our second week of the ALL project where we are looking at Science as a vehicle to drive our Literacy programme. Students thoroughly enjoyed Oobleck in Week 2, where we inquired about Non-Newtonian Fluid. This week our experiment is based around sound. Our writing focus is to write an accurate conclusion to explain the why factor in the experiment.
Maths - Most students are working through a variety of Number Strategies as well as completing their Number Knowledge Goals. This Term all teachers will be focusing on the skills to problem solve addition / subtraction and multiplication / division word problems. This is in conjunction with our regular programme.
If you would like to support your child at home -
IXL: addition / subtraction (D.1 - E.9), multiplication (F.1 - 11) or mixed operations ( U.8)
Dates to remember:
Mufti Day: Dress as your favourite Book Character - Tuesday 9th August
SPCA Cupcake Day: Help to support the SPCA by buying a Cupcake from the Pupil Council between 8 - 8:30 am on Tuesday 16th August
Have a great week,
