Merrin take away hotly contested Sportsmanship award at South Island Jump Jam Champs!
Wow! What an awesome performance from our Year 3 and 4 Jump Jam Stars. They really got the crowd going with their slick moves and enthusiasm!
The team took away the South Island Sportsmanship award today. This prestigious award was given to the team who showed encouragement to other schools as well as leading the way for other schools in good manners and positivity. We are so proud of the way that our children showed Rangatiratanga (leadership) and really lived our values.
The team was also given an award for Creative Costumes. We were proud of this award as the Team 5/6 children (who were not in the on stage team) showed Whanaungatanga and made the costumes for their younger buddies in the school. Thanks so much Team 5/6 creators!
A special mention goes to all of the children in the team and their amazing coaches Miss Vickers and Whaea Sam for showing perseverence and working through their lunch times for the last few months to perfect the moves and build up a team spirit. A massive thank you to the parents, grandparents, sisters, brothers, aunts and uncles who made a lot of noise in the audience to support these children. We are so appreciative to have such an active whānau in our school.
