Pūtahi Communication and dates for Week 9 Term 1

Jeni Bargh, Susan Perring and Helen Abrahams —

Lynne Clark is one of our lovely gardeners. Each Thursday she kindly leads a craft workshop, with our Year 1 tamariki. This week each child made an octopus as part of our Visual Arts 'Sea' theme. We really appreciate the time she puts in choosing and organising such interesting activities!

Values:

Each of our classrooms now has the new Merrin School Values posters. Children who demonstrate these values have their photo taken and are rewarded with a hot chocolate with Ms DR on Monday mornings.

Emergency Meeting Area:

If there was a school emergency which required you to pick up your child, our meeting area is on the basketball court, beside the back field. Each class lines up by their painted room number.

Reporting to Parents:

On Monday 3 April some families will receive a written report about their child's progress. These families are invited to organise a time with their classroom teacher to have a follow up 'Student Led Conference' on Monday 10 April. The Student Led Conference is a time when your child is responsible for reporting to you about their learning and progress.

Student self-reporting has been identified as the most significant indicator linked to enhanced student achievement. It provides a way parents can be actively involved in the education of their children and it gives the student an opportunity to build confidence and to accept responsibility for improvement in their learning.
