Lunchtime with Year 3/4

Zara Williams —

There are a lot of big changes happening at Ngā Whetū Kohara at the moment with our rebuild, and although incredibly exciting to see, it has meant that the Year 3/4 tamariki have had to explore some new things during our break times.

We are very grateful to have many staff and values leaders who create exciting lunch time opportunities for us while the playground renovations take place. The current opportunities the Year 3/4 tamariki have access to range from quiet spaces, to up-skilling workshops with a timetable as follows:

Monday – Chess club, quiet space (colouring, reading, cards), science, board games, Bollywood

Tuesday – Te Kotiritiri Challenge support, quiet space

Wednesday – Colouring club, tech up-skilling workshop, Wheels Wednesday

Thursday – Manaakitanga games, colouring club

Friday – Skipping

Although many are just for the Year 3/4 tamariki, some of these clubs and opportunities include the whole school which make them fantastic spaces to play, work and learn with new people. Our tamariki also have access to the Year 1/2 playground and various types of sports equipment, ensuring each individual shining star has something to do!
