Anna Huang —

DOB: 23rd September 2002 Came to Merrin in: Year 7

My favourite saying is:
Do not judge a fish by its ability to climb.

Hobbies:
My hobbies include art, singing, and playing games such as Mafia, I-chu, and Ensemble Stars.

How people will remember me:
I will probably be remembered as that girl that was good at art and wouldn’t shut their mouth about their favourite fictional character (currently Leon).

When I grow up I think I’ll be:
An animator, cartoonist, or any profession based around art.

Reflection:
Even though I’ve only been at Merrin since last year, I’ve gained some fond memories. I have experienced many fun events, stressful times, and embarrassing moments. There are many memories to write about but it’s best to leave with happy ones; that means I’ll be writing about the things that made me smile, laugh, and die from a lack of oxygen (so no ranting about losing the Year 8 Cantamath!).

Last year when I was a Year 7, we had an extraordinary term full of science. There were experiments involving magnets, slime and even explosions! One of my favourite experiments involved a film cannister, liquids, and Alka-Seltzer tablets. I loved the feeling of waiting for the moment the canister would finally burst and bolt high into the air. BANG! The shrill shrieks that ensued were absolutely hilarious and giggling naturally followed. Another experiment that brought the audience to the edge of their seats was Jamie’s rocket bottle! This experiment included: rockets, flammable fluids, and FIRE! Unfortunately for Jamie, the inside of the rocket wasn’t the only thing that got hot. A small flame danced upon the desk, on some sort of clear fluid… oops. The desk was immediately thrown over and the flame was extinguished. Everyone watching found themselves pointing and laughing at the fiery fiasco. So remember kids, don’t try this at home!

Another interesting event I experienced at Merrin was with Cassidy, Eric, and Tomas. We were part of a What Now challenge, Classroom Gladiators. Each of us were in one category: kindness, intelligence, art and sport. Of course, I was chosen for the art category. Every challenge was fun in its own way, though my favourite was the one where all players were contained in inflatable balls with only our legs out. Everyone was being thrown around, people were clashing with each other, and there would even be the occasional complete flip. I remember seeing someone getting absolutely thrashed and being thrown into the audience, almost squashing some poor, innocent children. Another memorable moment of that day was seeing the Principal getting gunged! I made quite a few mistakes during the challenges (though we were given a false penalty at one point.) but it was still an amazing time..

As I said, my time at Merrin has been fun and I will miss everyone dearly. I’m sure the future ahead will also hold joyful, and even more frustrating times but it’s all for the future to decide when, where, and what. I would like to thank everyone for making my year 7-8 experience a great one. Thank you.
