Year 8 Dinner and Dance 2020

Rachael Green —

Last week our 2020 Year 8’s boogied and ate the night away during our annual dinner and dance at Addington.

It was a fantastic opportunity to mingle with Year 8’s from other Canterbury schools, and to form connections for 2021. Moreish mains, thirst quenching drinks and delectable desserts were also on offer throughout the night. What a wonderful occasion, full of special memories for all!

Student Reflections...

Kathy - I remember when we went up to get our food, Samantha got so many fries that when we went back to the table, she had left a trail of fries behind. When we were eating our food, Yeji had taken hilarious photos of us with weird and funny filters. Before we could get our drinks, Annabelle had put skittles into her glass of water, causing it to turn into a whiskey-like colour.

Savannah - The best part about the Year 8 dinner was hanging out with my friends for the night. I also liked it when you could sometimes see who would be going to the same high school as you. Overall, it was a fun and enjoyable night.

Petra - One of my favourite parts of the night was when Isha and I were dancing and we came up with our new favourite dance moves - the real estate dance. Another memory was when Yeji was taking photos of us with funny filters on, while we were sitting at the table. Another funny thing was when Kathy was walking and her shoe broke, the rest of the night she didn’t have any shoes on.

Cayden - My best moments during the year 8 dinner and dance was hanging out with my friends. We were eating, talking, and having fun with each other.

Joaquin - I won’t ever forget the endless food and drinks, and how we got to choose tables and hang out with our friends. The French fries were great too, it was great in general.

Wesley - I really liked the food and talking to my friends. I had 12 cups of unhealthy drinks too.

Cian - I wore a nice suit and ate pizza. I also saw a train pass by.

Klark - I danced with my friends, ate chips and food and took lots of photos. I enjoyed meeting people from other schools and dancing with the girls. I really enjoyed it!

April - Being able to choose where we sat was nice, as well as having the freedom to move around. The fries were nice, as well as the fact that you could help yourself to more food. I also liked the music.

Yeji - It was so funny when Isha and Annabelle made up their own dance moves, and I was so surprised that Dynamite started to play. I liked the mood, and the music that they played.

Neela - The Leavers Dinner was really fun. My favourite part was probably the music, there were some really good songs. There was a funny bit where everyone crowded in a circle in the corner and a boy started doing tricks.

Ashlyn - I enjoyed the unlimited drinks, they were yummy. The music was really upbeat and cool. I’m glad they didn’t play old granny music.
