Barbara Brann demonstrating her skills with our Room 1 students on Wednesday 1 June 2016!
The Resource Teachers of Behaviour and Learning organised for Barbara to speak at our school.
Barbara is an accomplished public speaker and the writer of many educational publications.
Her reputation as an educator and speaker has offered her opportunities to speak at conferences and educational institutions in many countries. Her resources are used throughout the world, with the most popular being Casey the Caterpillar -The Magic caterpillar Handwriting Process.
Barbara’s Master’s Degree specialised in the area of spelling, but her interest in handwriting led to the creation of “The Magic Caterpillar Handwriting Process“. We use this programme at Merrin School.
Throughout her career, Barbara has had particular interests in metacognition and learning to learn, information processing and memory and the influence of motor co-ordination on learning.
The Building Blocks programme developed by Barbara has been introduced into Room 1. This programme is a framework of interconnected skills, designed to ensure that children develop the foundational skills for literacy.
