This Friday, we are all set to have our Mihi Whakatau to celebrate and welcome our new families into Ngā Whetū Kohara Merrin school. This Mihi Whakatau will be the first to be in our new hall, Hīnātore. We do this Mihi Whakatau to Welcome and honour you as a new member in Ngā Whetū Kohara Merrin School. This will be the time to perform a waiata and speeches announced in Te reo Maori. We will also have our senior kapa haka performing to the manuhiri (guest) and at the end of the Mihi Whakatau we will share with the manuhiri a little kai (food) before they leave.
Ko te tumanako ka haere mai koe ki te uru mai ki te mihi whakatau ( hope that you will come and join us in the mihi whakatau)
