Welcome to our new Mandarin Learning Assistant!

Roz Archbold —

Chunlei Yuan will be with us for 2024. She will work with the tamariki across the entire school over the year. Here is a letter of introduction from Chunlei.

Kia Ora Merrin School Community,

I am CHUNLEI YUAN, a Mandarin Language Assistant who is going to teach Chinese in Merrin School this year. It’s my honour to be a member of Merrin Community which is a culturally diverse school and I do cherish this precious chance to study with the teachers and students here. I will teach Chinese aligning with school motto and I hope to provide the students with an excellent Chinese and Chinese cultural experience. Additionally, I’m sure there will be an exchange of cultures from China, New Zealand, and Māori. I sincerely wish that we can have good days together.

In terms of hobbies, I am good at singing, and I like singing. No matter Chinese, English or Korean I am confident I can sing it very well. And I would be grateful for you to teach me Māori, and hopefully I can also sing Māori songs. I also like travelling, I love the beautiful scenery here. If it is possible, could you share with me some attractions, so that I can deeply travel and get to know more of New Zealand.

Finally, if you have some performance events can I participate in and sing?

With warm personal regards

Yours sincerely

CHUNLEI YUAN
