Welcome to Term 3 in Mahuta

Urmi Shah —

With only 9 weeks in this term, it will fly by in no time at all so hold onto your seats!

We hope that you have been enjoying the amazing weather and that you have some time for a break.

A  warm welcome to two new teachers in the Mahuta team, Vanessa Mansfield and Jennifer Bourne. Jennifer will be teaching full time and Vanessa will be supporting reading daily between 9.30 and 12pm.

We also welcome Haeun Park, a student teacher from Chinju in South Korea.

In Week 1, the Year 6 children will take part in the Christchurch City Council Cycle Safety Programme. Please see the attached forms and complete a permission slip if you have not already done so. The children are split into two groups and will only need to bring their bikes on the relevant days. Group 1 will need their bikes on Monday and Wednesday and Group 2 will need their bikes on Tuesday and Thursday.

Our writing term focuses on procedures and explanations. We will be completing science experiments as a stimulus for this.

For Maths, we will be working on Geometry for strand and continue with developing strategies in addition and subtraction, multiplication and division, and proportions and ratios. Please continue to support your child with having quick recall of their basic facts and times tables.

Winter sport continues for the next 5 weeks and then we will start focussing on athletics.
