Term 2 Week 7

Peri Marks —

Learning is never easy and we always face challenges. It is how we react to those challenges that is when the real learning occurs.

Congratulations!

- Woo Jin, George and Keisha, Katy, James and Sky represented our school last Wednesday at the Year 5/6 Otago Daily Times Spelling. Congratulations on your participation. You did an excellent job.

- Congratulations to Matthew, Juliet, Caitlin, Chloe, Aaliyah, Marcus, Penny, Amy, Katy who have participated in the 40 Hour Famine.

Growth Mindest

In Mahuta, we have been developing knowledge about "Growth Mindset".  This theory was developed by Dr. Carol Dweck and discusses two mindsets that we can have. A fixed mindset or growth mindset. To understand more about this you can follow the link below:

Literacy

The students have continued to write text that persuades others to join our opinions. The learning has included how to plan the text and how to write an effective introduction and paragraph.

During reading, the groups have been working on their reading comprehension skills.

Mathematics and Statistics

The students have been making progress at the moment with knowledge and strategy. The current focus for number knowledge has been on fractions and we would appreciate if the students continued to reinforce this learning at home with their IXL. Groups are working on a variety of strategies related to the operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division). As always, please continue to learn multiplication/ division basic facts.
