Game of Awesome
For writing, we have been playing Game of Awesome. This is a fun, interactive game that encourages imagination and creativity.
Last week, Miss Harris brought us a game called ‘Game of Awesome’. There was a white box, roughly the size of an 8 years old child’s hand, with a bunch of bright illustrations. When you open the box, there’s 4 black decks of cards with each one having a different theme written on it, just the facts, best day ever, into the danger zone, and adventures in space and time. We were divided into 4 groups, and played the game. The game took about 10-15 minutes, and it was really enjoyable. When all of the groups finished playing, they had 3 pairs of cards:the theme and idea. So we each came up with a story that included 3 pairs of them, and it turned out really well. I thought that this was really good for the people having trouble with getting ideas for writing. - Akki
Stick Bug - By Mila
Winning cards were sticky stick bug, caretakers closet and blue tongue
While I was walking to school slowly I took a shortcut through the spooky forest. I wandered across some blue, glowing , berries that looked so delicious. I wanted to eat them so bad! It was like they were saying “EAT ME! EAT ME!” So I reached out and picked one of the magnificent looking berries of the tree and ate it. It was amazing and the taste was outstanding!!! I continued walking to school and saw my reflection in the puddle… “why is my tongue blue!?” My face starts to itch.” So I sprint to school as fast as I ever ran before. When I finally made it to school the closest person I saw was the school caretaker in the caretakers closet. “HELP ME! SOMEBODY HELP MEEEEE!” I cry as my face starts to swell up. “ Howdy, how is the weather out there? How are you going?” He says… I stood there in shock. “ Did he start small talk when I clearly needed help?” I think to myself. I sprint outside frantically looking for somebody else, to see a sticky stick bug looking up at me. “ Here, take these, '' he said. I had no other choice so I took the pills he gave me and slowly my face stopped swelling and my tongue wasn't blue. “ Thank you stick bug” I said while his sticky goo fell down my hand.
