Getting Arty!

Hannah Halliday - March 10, 2021

Year 5/6 have been enjoying expressing their artistic flair over the past couple of weeks.

It has been wonderful seeing the children getting creative and developing their artistic skills through the use of different materials. Our artistic inspiration has included the works of Van Gogh, Paul Klee, Colin McCahon and more.

We have been really proud of the effort that the children have put into their pieces.

"First we had to draw around our hand to make a castle/mountain thing. Then we had to draw the skyline. We drew the moon, dots and stars with pastel. Finally we got watercolours and painted. It didn't go over the pastel. I liked this art we did and I hope to do something like it again." - Loretta (Room 17) - Starry Night

"Firstly we had to lightly sketch out towers with pencil. Then we added shapes, splitting them into geometric parts. Then we coloured in the shapes with pastels. Finally we went over the lines in black vivid to make them bolder and easier to see. I enjoyed colouring in with pastel even though it was quite a challenge." - Alisdair (Room 16) - The Castle and the Sun
