A lovely beginning to 2018

Lisa Dillon-Roberts —

We have enjoyed a happy and positive start to our school year with our face to face meetings with families and our Family Fiesta evening.

Welcome back everyone.

It has been wonderful seeing so many tanned and smiling little people over the past few days as they have been in and around school.  We have found the meetings with families a warm and inviting way to begin the year and would like to thank the PTA for the amazing 'Family Fiesta' evening.  So much fun was had by  families and staff.

A special welcome back to Keira Hubball, our dear student who was so very unwell last year.  We are just so happy that Keira has made, what can only be described as a truely miraculous recovery and thank everyone who supported her and her family last year.

This year we are using the 'app' Seesaw to share key moments of learning with families.  Some teachers used it last year and many parents have already said how much they appreciated the learning stories that were shared.  This year, all teachers and students will be using it to share learning with you.

Alongside seesaw each team will still send you a weekly snapshot of reminders for the week ahead.  These articles will focus on organisational reminders, as opposed to learning, and their purpose is to support (awhina) busy families with the information you need for the week ahead.

Our newsletter will continue to be completed alternate Thursdays where you will find a lot of informative organisational information and learning stories.  This year we are going to improve the translation of information for our families, so you will notice many articles available in other languages.

Next week we will send home the 'hard copy' dates for Term One, many families appreciated this for the fridge door.

A reminder that our school is closed on Tuesday to celebrate Waitangi Day.  We hope you enjoy the holiday.

Kind regards

Lisa
