My name is Machi Takebe and I’m an Abacus teacher, trained in Japan and practising here in Christchurch for two years now. I learned the Abacus when I was a child in Japan completing 3 years of study. Later on, I built upon this foundation and a life long love of maths to train further to become an Abacus teacher. I am keen to spread the word about the many benefits of Abacus
The Abacus is an ancient numerical device that has many positive applications in the modern world particularly in building your child's fine motor skill while increasing their maths abilities. I currently teach around 30 students, 8 of whom are currently attending Merrin primary. I have a class on Monday morning at Merrin, Room 9b at the moment.
