Touch teams take on finals!
We had two senior touch teams compete in finals on Tuesday the 28th of February.
The year 5/6 Merrin Mavericks team played their final last night against Marist. It was a very tough game with some competitive touch being played by both teams. The Mavericks went down 1-0 early but managed to pull a try back just after half time. But Marist were too good in the end slowly pulling away to a 3-1 win. Well done Mavericks hold your heads high. Good luck to those students who are no longer at Merrin School - thank you for your dedication and commitment to our school.
The year 7/8 Merrin Magicians had an epic final which saw a sudden death play off after the scores were tied at the end of normal time. After defending hard to start sudden death the Magicians were able to fling the ball wide to an always speedy Ryan who took off in front of the Merrin supporters at full speed to score the winning try.
A massive thank you must go to all coaches and managers who gave up their time to coach and manage all of our teams. We wouldn't have been able to enter teams without you so thank you!
Thank you to all parents making sure your children were at their touch games on time and ready to go, as well as supporting from the sideline. I know your support absolutely helped our students in our games.
