Two Wonderful Evenings of Music
This week we were treated to the 'fruits' of many hours of tuition and practice by Merrin children and their music teachers
Every Tuesday, in pockets around Merrin school, we can listen in to music lessons of all descriptions. Susan Dollin orchestrates (chuckle) the itinerant music programme and all its tutors here at Merrin. At the end of the year the children have the opportunity to perform. This year the concerts were over two nights rather than one.
It was a real pleasure to attend both evenings, with some children who play multiple instruments, turning up for both nights. In some cases, siblings played alongside each other: it was easy to pick out our musical families.
Items included keyboard, guitar, ukulele, piano, drum, rock band, Suzuki violin, Suzuki cello, saxophone, clarinet, flute and orchestra. A big thank you to the tutors: Edith Nixon, Dave Crosson, Barbara Auton, Damien Riddell, Andrew Couper, Lorraine Horton, Naomi Harmer Guy de Lacey and Anna Just. An extra big thank you to Susan Dollin for coordinating the lessons and the concerts. Most enjoyable!
