Winter Sports:

Our Friday winter sport competition is starting very soon. We are excited to get this under way and watch some very competitive students take to the field/courts and represent Merrin School. There is a year 5/6 netball team that needs a coach for their team to go ahead. If you can volunteer please email donanashby@merrin.school.nz as soon as possible. 

After school sports:

It has been so awesome to get sports teams up and running for after school competitions. We have four basketball teams competing in the YMCA Bishopdale competition. Our two year 5/6 teams play on Thursday nights and our two year 7/8 teams play on Friday nights. 

We have also started our netball season for the Merrin Netball Club with games taking place on Friday after school and Saturday mornings. Thank you to the wonderful volunteers who have put so much time and effort into getting these teams up and running.

North West Zones Cross Country:

We have had a fantastic turn out of Cross Country runners training in the early hours of the morning for zones. There is still two more early morning sessions happening (Thursday 11th May and Tuesday 16th May) These will be at 7:45am at Avonhead Park as per usual. The North West Zones event is being held at Jellie Park on Wednesday the 17th of May with the times of races as follows:

Year 8 girls race 12:30 pm Year 8 boys race 12:45 pm

Year 7 girls race 1 pm Year 7 boys race 1:15 pm

Year 6 girls race 1:30 pm Year 6 boys race 1:45 pm

Year 5 girls race 2 pm Year 5 boys race 2:15 pm

This is open to all parents and caregivers to come down and support our fantastic runners.
