Pink Ribbon Breakfast
Recently, we held a breakfast to raise money for a great charity. This was a really neat opportunity to connect as a staff and we enjoyed using the new kitchen area in Auahiaroa.
Well done to our students who ran in the Zone Cross Country competition yesterday. The rain stopped just in time for the event and the students that I spoke to were full of smiles after their race.
This week we have seen an increase in student absence. We are mindful that colds and flus are on the increase. Thank you for continuing to support mask wearing, it does make a difference. A polite reminder please, we do not expect students to arrive at school with cold/flu symptoms.
I hope you have been able to have a look at what is happening on our back field. Paths have been formed and the outlines are beginning to take shape. This is very exciting!
On the 29th and 30th June we have our Ako conferences for families. This is an opportunity for you to visit your child's teacher and discuss their progress. There is a separate article included in this newsletter for you to book your conference and I encourage all families to make the most of this opportunity.
Recently we held a Teacher Only Day and we have another planned for this Tuesday the 7th June. Nearly three years ago, when the Teacher's Collective agreement was settled, these extra days were allocated. They are hugely valuable and we hope that by attaching them to a long weekend, we have provided an opportunity for families, as opposed to a mid-week inconvenience.
Winter Sports starts tomorrow, a huge thank you to our parent who is able to help and of course to Laura Della Bosca who organises this for 250+ students. Let the 'good weather Friday dances' begin!
Have a fabulous long weekend and we will see everyone back at school on Wednesday 8th June.
Kind regards
Lisa
