Term 2 Week 4

Peri Marks —

"Merrin School is the Best!"

Over the past week the students have been learning to write a persuasive text and in particular how to write an introduction. To write an effective introduction students should be stating their opinion followed by at least three reasons why you should side with them. Here are some examples:

"Have you thought of going to a school filled with so many warm welcomes and smiles? - pause - A school with so many bright and positive friends and teachers. If you're in trouble, there will always be someone to help you, Teachers that help you become what you want and children from all around the world. Would you like to be In a magnificent school like this? If so then come to Merrin school!"

"Listen to these Five words, Merrin school is the best! Merrin has been running as a school for fifty years which means it must be pretty magnificent. It is a friendly place where all of the students help each other. The students at merrin school welcome in any other new students no matter What skin they are in and what qualities they have. If you like the sound of this magic school that's full of mysteries talk to your parents about joining this school of wonder."

Mathematics and Statistics

Last week, students were assessed on their number knowledge. From this test we have new data regarding learning needs. Ask your child's learning teacher for information if you wish to continue to see your child progress.

Reminders

- With the beginning of sport please ensure that your child/children have their sports equipment ready for school on Friday morning. They are still to come to school in their uniform and they will change into their sports uniform before they depart. If they were not issued with a sports uniform they are to wear their school PE uniform.

- This Wednesday we will be taking a squad of runners to the North West Zone cross country event at Jellie Park. We will be leaving school Wednesday morning by bus and returning approximately 3pm.

Our trip to Ferrymead on 1st June: Bus places for parent helpers are filled, you will shortly receive an email regarding this. If you wish to come but have not returned your form, you are most welcome but will need to provide their own transportation.

School accounts: If your account is overdue and has reached the threshold of $200, please start making some payments as unfortunately your child may have to miss out on some activities. We really would not like for this to happen. Please contact Erika in the office if you wish to discuss this further or would like to set up a payment plan.

Lost Property

Maya has lost her polar fleece and we wondered if you could please check at home to see if you have taken it by mistake. If you do find it please bring it to Mr Wallis. There are other children in our class who have also lost clothing during the term so if you do find something that does not belong to you, just bring it in.
