Merrin Chorale's first performance!
Congratulations to the students of Merrin Chorale who recently performed at St. Christopher's Anglican Church. The group sang their hearts out and wowed the audience with their wide range of dynamics and tone.
The students chose five songs to sing: Seasons of Love (from the musical 'Rent'), a medley of Christmas Carols, Don't You Worry 'Bout a Thing (written by Stevie Wonder, recently of 'Sing' fame), This is Me (from The Greatest Showman), and I'm Still Standing (Elton John).
The performance featured solos by Soomin Song (Seasons of Love), and Georgia Simmonds (This is Me). Both soloists captivated the audience and sang with beautiful tone and intonation; well done Soomin and Georgia!
Merrin Chorale have had 2 concerts cancelled this year, so were very ready for their first public performance. Audience members described it as 'marvellous' and 'fantastic', with one member of the audience asking if we could sing at more events around the city. Watch this space!
Merrin Chorale consists of students in years 5-8 who have been successful at audition. Successful students can sing in tune and sustain a harmony part. We look forward to running more auditions at the start of 2021. Merrin Senior Choir is welcome to all students in years 5-8 - the more the merrier, with no audition necessary.
No worries if you missed the performance - Merrin Chorale will be choosing their two favourite songs to perform at next week's Gala Night.
