Recount Writing in Term 1
This term we have been focusing on writing recounts and the writing process.
To begin with we discussed what a recount is and what makes a good recount. To help us with our writing, we used a list of criteria.
As we became more familiar with the criteria we focused on writing more descriptive recounts through a 3D experience. The 3D experience is where we all do something together to spark our senses so the writing becomes more meaningful.
Check out our recounts of The Race.
An AWESOME Running Race
On a franticly hot Tuesday the awesome year four students went out to the court for an exciting running race. BANG! OW that hurts my ears!. The funky boys have taken off. Now its the beautiful girls turn. Me and the other girls walk over to the starting line. I felt NERVOUS and EXCITED at the same time. I felt like I had dancing dolphins in my tummy. Ready set GOOOO! Off we ran. Sun rays were burning on me.I felt like WOBBLY red jelly and I had a stitch but I kept going. GO GO GO I told myself . I determined to do this I said in my head. Pretty soon I was zooming because of my determination.I knew my stamina was building up and I was getting stronger. As I crossed the finish line I felt many things at once I was puffed exhausted and glad. But the best thing was that I did it and I did it well. It was fantastic.I felt like I did a runwellrace.
[ Which isn’t even a word so that means I’m super duper excited.]

Bang! Bang! Bang!
On a exhaustingly hot Tuesday Ms Gallagher's writing group and Ms Minty went on the court to do a fantastic running race. I was half nervous and half excited so I didn't know what feeling I could choose. First the awesome boys did the fantastic race. Suddenly I got more worried. When I started the race I felt amazingly burning. Then during the race I felt amazingly worried because nearly every boy was zooming past me. After the race finished I didn't feel that bad because I wasn't last. I felt really relieved. Next it was the great girls turn. The girls zoomed past on the court. I thought they felt proud and relieved. The running race was spectacular. I want to do the running race again and be the winner next time.

The Running Race
On a burning hot Tuesday, our class lined up on the court to have a exciting running race. Ms.Gallagher let the boys go first. We were nervous and excited. ”BANG”! The boys sprinted for the finish line. We were determined and under pressure. We were so fast that our legs were spinning. Our hearts were beating even faster than our legs. Finally, we crossed the finish line. I was relieved and puffed and a little bit hurt. I was really proud. The girls were next. They were fast and speedy too. When we were finished we were really tired and glad. I thought I did quite well.
