Welcome to Term 3!
A big warm welcome back to school! Term 3 is shaping up to be another action-packed and fun term.
We had a number of new students begin with us at the start of the term – a welcome to all of the new whānau that have joined us. Our usual Mihi Whakatau to welcome new families has been postponed for now. Once the hall is back in action (or the weather is a bit better) we will set a date. New families will be sent an invitation once this date is confirmed.
Our Year 0-4 team are beginning preparations for their production later in the year. We have been lucky enough to hear some of the singing around the classrooms already – can’t wait to see what else they have in store!
The Year 6 students are currently completing their annual cycle safety course with the team from the Christchurch City Council. It is amazing to see them go from wobbling around the court to adventuring out onto the roads!
Year 7-8 have kicked off the term with art classes to launch their inquiry question “How can I show what is important to me through art?”. We look forward to seeing what the students produce over the course of the term.
The senior students get financial rewards for positive behaviour and great learning. At the end of the term they had an auction - they could bid anything from scooter time to lunch with Ms DR. The four students in the photo above combined their money and managed to outbid everyone for a trip to the local cafe - what a great way to start the term!
Please make sure that you continue to obey road rules (especially parking on yellow lines) at the main entrances to the school. We have seen a bit of an improvement, but still have to regularly remind people about parking on the yellow lines. Thanks to those of you that do take extra care around the school.
Enjoy the rest of your week and have a great weekend!
