Term Three Week Two Notices

Tania Gallagher —

What a busy first week back. It has been a pleasure to see all of your children's beautiful faces.

Week One has flown by and we have managed to fit in a lot of learning.

A.L.L Programme

Next week we will start our A.L.L Programme. The children are excited about science in our programme and learning from some new experiences. Whilst the timetable is not changing, we will be running our writing session differently. The A.L.L Programme will be run in Whānau Groups, not writing groups. This is where we will do our Reading and Writing through Science. It is a very exciting programme where the students enjoy taking part in science experiments and writing up the scientific process.

As part of our A.L.L science experiments later in the term, we require some 1.5lt coca cola or sprite bottles. Please note these are not the cheaper brands or fanta bottles. If you have a spare 1.5lt bottle at home, please bring it to school.

Speeches

We have been blown away with the speeches this week. Look out for our article on them and who our winners were.

A few reminders:

- It is getting colder and our doors do not open until 8.30am. Children shouldn't be at school before 8.30am unless they are at Caspa. Also please ensure your child has a sweatshirt or polar fleece at school for those cold days.

- Stationary - We still have students who do not have pencils, rubbers, rulers or paper to write on. Please ask them if they need new stationary and ensure they have these ready for learning.

- Scholastic Book Club orders are due back on Tuesday. If you would like to order something, have it to Mrs Simpson in the library by then.

- The expectation for home learning is reading and IXL.  IXL works really well if supported by an adult and is practiced daily for up to 25 minutes. We would like to children to be practicing skills at year 4 and specifically on fractions and multiplication/division facts as we are looking at some investigations in this area.

In addition to this Te Kotiritiri Challenges are optional but encouraged by the teachers. We have had lots already coming in, but the end of this term is the cut off for these to be completed. We have already had some children who have had their 10 challenges signed off which is great to see.

Have a good weekend
