Term 2 Week 10

Nicky Hebberd —

One more week left to go before we have 2 weeks off. This week we have some great things happening to finish off the term.

Student Led Interviews

Thank you to all of the whānau that were able to make it to the interviews. It was lovely to see the children sharing their learning with you.

Speeches

Children doing speeches are encouraged to take their books home over the weekend and each night. We will be spending next week finishing them off and writing out our good copies onto speech cards. The speeches will be performed in the first week of next term. This means that they are able to work on the presentation of their speech over the holidays. Please work alongside them over the next few weeks.

Dance

All children have been working within a group to create a dance routine. They will be sharing their routines with the pod over the week.

Matariki Show

On Wednesday afternoon we will have a show coming to the whole school from the Court Theatre. This will be a great way to finish of our Matariki celebration.

Te Kotiritiri Challenges

Just a reminder that these need to be completed by the end of Term 3. They must complete 10 in total to receive the award at the end of the year. This must include at least one challenge from each area.

Māori Language Week

Māori Language Week is an annual campaign, led by the Māori Language Commission, to promote the language to New Zealand. The campaign is about raising awareness that New Zealand has its very own language and encouraging the use of it, with simple phrases every day, week and month of the year.

The theme for this year is ākina te reo – behind you all the way which is about using te reo Māori to support people, to inspire and to cheer on.

The campaign will run from July 4 – 10.

Have a great weekend,

Nicky, Hannah and Tania
