Mahuta News

Urmi Shah —

Another busy week in the hub. We have been working on our Van Gogh artist study, considering our speech topics, preparing for Winter Sport, using think boards to show our understanding of Maths strategies and that's just a snippet!

We are having a big push on learning basic facts at the moment, so please support your child to have quick recall of addition and subtraction facts to 20. Children who do not have good knowledge of these facts struggle when learning strategies, as they will often get the answers wrong. If your child is proficient in these, please encourage their recall of multiplication and division facts to 12x.

Week 3 events:

Tuesday 17th May: ICAS - Digital Technologies

Teachers out of class for Professional development. We welcome the following relievers to Mahuta - Cynthia Ellis (R9), Judy Bockett (R10) and Alexa Sanders (R12).

Thursday 19th May: Cyber Safety show: My friends dotcom.

Friday 20th May: Winter Sports begins (please remind your child to bring their sports gear)

Pink Shirt Day - gold coin donation

Caught in the act: Mahuta Stars

Rica Prado - for helping Ava at the end of each day

Makayla Dai/ Olivia Dawson - for their reliability

Aaliyah Whui- Bennett - For being a great role model to a younger child

Cameron Brown - for tidying our learning spaces

Have a great week!

Urmi, Geoff and Peri
