Happy Easter! Have a wonderful holiday

Tania Gallagher —

This is our last weekly hail for the term. This term has flown by quickly and we have been so impressed by all the learning that has happened in Pataitai Pod.

Reading

Reading has continued this week with the major focus on inference. Students are becoming more independent identifying key words within a text which supports their inference. Inference occurs widely in everyday life, it can be simple such as a riddle or more complex inference found within texts. One area we have explored is visual images alongside a question.

Over the holiday break students have been encouraged to continue their reading habits of at least 20 minutes a day no matter whereabouts they are. Please ensure any books borrowed from school over the holidays are returned in the first week back.

Maths

Please encourage your child to continue to practice on their IXL over the holidays. Any practice around basic facts will build on the work we have completed in class.

Writing

Like reading and maths, it is still important for you to encourage your child to write. We have suggested to the children that they might like to keep a diary of what you are doing over the holidays. We put a lot of emphasis on reading and maths, so it is important to also focus on writing. Next term we begin an exciting journey as a staff to focus on writing and improving the children's learning.

Thank you all for your visits, questions and support over this term. We love having you all visit to see what we are learning. Next term we will continue to build on the routines we have established this term and have some exciting new activities planned.

We hope you and your families have a wonderful two weeks holiday and that we get some nicer weather!!

Happy Holidays
