'Celebration of Learning!'

Lisa McWilliam —

Today many parents arrived to view our artwork, poetry, writing and inquiries.  It was wonderful to have you with us and we thank you for taking the time to come and visit our learning spaces.

The years 5 and 6 classes of Mahuta also exchanged ideas and showed off their learning for the term with Pataitai, putting into practise their skills in manaakitanga and tuakana teina.

It was a noisy but highly interactive exchange and we would very much like to thank the visiting parents for taking the time to inquire, challenge and celebrate the learning of their children and others in the wider team.

Next term sees us heading into student-led learning with Writing through Inquiry.  Your child will, by now, have chosen an area of interest and we are all very excited about pursuing these over the course of the term.  If you have particular skills and interests in the following areas and could spare an afternoon to share your knowledge with a group of children we would love to have you join the team!!!

1. Space

2. Science

3. History

4. People and Places

5. The Arts

There are likely to be a number of field trips to explore learning beyond the classroom for smaller groups of students so we will be seeking your support to make this happen for your children. These are truly valuable experiences as they offer real-life context for learning deeper understanding that no textbook or youtube clip can ever quite match!

Finally, we all wish you a very Happy Easter and a safe and restful holiday with your family. We are so looking forward to seeing our students back at school on Monday the 1st of May - all bright eyed and bushy tailed, ready for a great term!
