Tania Gallagher —

Kia ora Whānau

My name is Tania Gallagher and I have been teaching at Merrin School for 5 ½ years. During this time I have taken on many roles and responsibilities throughout the school. My knowledge and skills in understanding Merrin School and the Values we hold strong have been established with my input as Tikanga Leader, then as a member of the SCRUM team in 2018.

I have used Best Evidence to support my teaching and learning programme. This helps build on my teacher knowledge and how to implement effective learning programmes in our teaching spaces. I believe in Child-Centred Learning and our Merrin Stars ensure we are growing all students into their own star. I have a passion for ICT and curriculum growth within the school and hope that all the children in my class will gain the knowledge and confidence to grow into lifelong learners. I believe that teaching is the art of leading others to deliberately create a result that wouldn’t have happened otherwise.

I love spending time with my family out in the country where I live. In the weekends you can find me helping out in my local community with sports groups, the local A&P committee and the new Recreation Reserve Development Committee.

When I have time, I love reading a good book! I also enjoy being outside in my garden which is a work in progress. I love that I can go out to my vegetable garden and eat my freshly grown vegetables.
