The Kaitiakitanga Values Team are encouraging awareness of our environment by promoting recycling and reusing in our local community, with a weekly Friday morning Eco Swap.

Every Friday morning at 8.30am, outside the school hall, there will be a stall for families, students and teachers to bring along an item and swap it for another item. You might bring a book and swap it for a succulent, or a zucchini and swap it for a toy etc... This way we are encouraging the reuse of unwanted items and the reduction of waste. So far we have had over 100 Eco Swaps and our student leaders would really like to see more people taking advantage of this opportunity.

We sell our slowly fermented and carefully managed 2L Worm Juice for $2.00. This rich fertilizer will have your garden flourishing in the wiggle of a worm or the blink of an eye! The Kaitiakitanga Values Leaders will also be collecting bread tags to help to raise money for wheelchairs. It takes 200kg of tags (approx 20,720 tags) to bring in enough money to buy one wheelchair. This will be run as a class competition, so start saving and spreading the word! Some students have asked their caregivers, parents and grandparents to save up bread tags in their work places. Our three regulars have brought in over 3000 bread tags!

This wheelchair has gone to a doctors surgery in Vredendal, South Africa, where many stroke patients are treated who have difficulty walking. Thank you for collecting bread tags New Zealand! Bread tags for wheelchairs NZ
