Merrin School Board of Trustees have super powers!

Greg Hansen Board Member —

Well not really, but hopefully that has gained your attention. In November we will be going through an Election process for the Board of Trustees (BOT) for your school. Some of the current Board members will stand for re-election, whilst some will step down. So this is an opportunity to put yourself forward to join the team, and use your super powers for good!

The process of an Election sounds daunting, but in reality all you do is pull together a small blurb about yourself and why you would like to join the Merrin School Board.

This information is then shared to the School Community who then have the opportunity to vote for the Board. We haven’t seen anyone do it yet, but you would be more than welcome to campaign like Bill and Jacinda.

As a general rule, people from diverse cultures tend to be under-represented on school boards, and this is also the case at Merrin School. We would welcome the opportunity for the Board to be more reflective of our multi-cultural environment at Merrin School. The Board is a diverse group of people, who sometimes won’t all think the same, but we work together as a team as we care about the education of everyone’s children.

If you would like to know more about what you would do if you joined the Board, then click here, or feel free to contact our Board Chair, Mirjam Phillips on mirj.phillips@gmail.com or 021 1134801 for more information.

There will be more information coming up about the Board of Trustees Elections, but hopefully this has got you thinking about the opportunity to join the team in contributing to the direction of Merrin School.
